We can all heal ourselves.

HEALTH

Health is the new wealth.

We now know that our genes play a relatively small role in our health. It is our lifestyle that is the most powerful tool when it comes to living a long and healthy life.

Who doesn’t want to age successfully, happy, and healthy? Our food, drink, exercise, sleep, and friendship choices have the most power over our cellular function and health span.

To live healthy doesn’t have to be hard and complicated. It´s easier than most of us think.

I decided to focus on nutrition, exercise, and stress management

Rest and recharge are also important today, as is the “Sense of Wonder”. We have to start looking around us, at our stunning world, with open eyes.

Our lifestyle could be our medicine. The right lifestyle and nutrition can change our wellbeing, our health problems, and even make chronic illness disappear. A lifestyle change can also prevent illness.

Anyone can change his/her life to the better, starting with small steps.

It’s always good to have the right attitude and be motivated. That’s where I can help. As a health coach, I can get you started with forming good habits that will keep you going.

Once you get started, you become addicted to wanting healthier habits, additional exercises, and an overall greater wellbeing.

Research shows that how we feel as we are getting older, and if we get sick or not, depends on how we have lived

After the age of 35, about 80% of our lifestyle determines how old and how healthy we will be.

Most think that aging and disease are a one-way trip, only to be cured with medicine. It’s not. Future generations will look at us as primitive creatures because we didn’t use the self-healing approach the way we could have. Our body is an incredible healing machine, but only if you know how.

It’s never too late to pull the breaks, change the way you live, and help your body heal itself.

I never thought that what I put in my mouth would affect my life, health, and wellness so much.

Now I know how important it is to eat clean, natural, and unprocessed foods — preferably organic, seasonal, and regional.

Most Important: Give yourself a whole new life by cutting out sugar and white flour carbohydrates. They stress our body. It’s the carbs — not the fat — that makes us gain the kilos and the fatty belly.

The food we eat should give us the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and power for energy producing cells on a daily basis. The modern western diet doesn’t always provide that. It’s often processed and full of ingredients that disturb the balance in our body and make us age faster.

Nutrient dense foods will not only improve your overall mood, it will improve memory, sleep, and cognitive functions — food for thought.

The connection between gut health and brain health is undeniable, and the effort you make to eat well is worth it!

Organic vegetables in all colors, different kinds of protein, and good fats are my basic food.

Let me tell you more about good eating habits! And what you should and shouldn’t eat! Fasting, gut problems, and detox are other topics on my agenda.

I can’t live without moving myself every day. I am addicted! Jogging makes me happy and gives me self-esteem, lots of energy, and makes me feel young.

I take long walks. I do yoga. I love hiking in the mountains. I go to the gym. I work in my garden.

Exercise, training, and sports on a regular basis has many advantages —reduces stress, increases self-healing, is anti-aging, prevents illness, improves sleep, and lessens osteoporosis.

We definitely sit too much — in the car, at work, at school, at home in front of our TV or laptop (like me right now). 10,000 steps per day should be a minimum.

Weight training is also important because our muscle mass declines with age.

Training with weights will raise our testosterone levels which means more motivation, more energy, more joy for living, and more self-esteem.

Look at the world like a big gym. Find possibilities to move wherever you are — stairs, walk to a bus or train, carry things, work in the garden.

It’s never too late to start moving. Your body will adjust and get better at whatever you are practicing. What seems impossible today, will one day be your warm up.

Stress management

It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as status symbol! — Author Unknown

Why stress keeps winning?

  • We consider it normal.

  • We feel helpless in the face of external forces.

  • The signs of distress are ignored.

  • We think that stress is harmless.

  • We are simply unaware of how stressed we are.

  • We think we will thrive on stress.

— Deepak Chopra

Stress has a negative impact on our immune system, our aging process, and can be the cause of many illnesses.

Stress management has been the hardest challenge for me in my own lifestyle change. I know now that I didn’t really know how to relax. I had to learn deep breathing, mindfulness, and meditation. It’s still easy to fall back in my old patterns of negative thoughts and stress. I have to work on it every day. Yoga taught me deep breathing and relaxation. Mindfulness brought me focus, calmness, and acceptance.

I am now trying to live as mindful as I can. I am more productive and focused on what I am doing. I am here and now. My mind is not wandering all over. (Ok, well sometimes it still does!)

In the US, there are well-known companies using Mindfulness to improve their outcomes.

An excellent stress reducer for me is walking. Being thankful is a great part of stress management. Thinking about my family and friends makes me feel happy, warm, and relaxed, which equals less stress. I decided to make stress management a daily routine. It’s always scheduled, and an important part of my life.

It’s never too late to care about your brain and your nervous system.
